I really hate it you know, all those people saying :
‘you don’t need to go on a diet’
‘you’re pretty and not fat at all’
‘why don’t you eat?’
‘starving yourself is not healthy’.
It are such typical things to say, everybody knows starving yourself isn’t healthy but do they really think anyone with an eating disorder even cares about that? Such stupid things to say… they just don’t know how to cope with the situation and say such meaningless things. It are stereotype answers. People say them when they are faced with such a situation because we were all learned that not eating is bad so everybody just says what is ‘right’. But they don’t know what it’s like. They don’t know what it’s like to feel fat every second of the day. They don’t know how it’s like to starve yourself, to feel weak and cranky and to make matters worse to start binging after that. Binging isn’t just eating too much, it’s eating until you can’t take another bite. even when your full or the food starts to taste like shit you just keep eating until you feel horrible and extremely guilty afterwards. they don’t know what that’s like, they don’t know it feels and they never will unless they have experienced it themselves. My point is just that it doesn’t help. Even if they say it with the best intentions it won’t help, in fact it might do more bad than good. A person with an eating disorder chose to lose weight and chose to do it by starving themselves or by purging or whatever, such beautiful words don’t help when they hold no meaning.
